A talented golfer and business woman was spared a jail sentence earlier this month following an admission that she had caused death by careless driving.
Tracy Capal made a terrible “error of judgement” when she clipped the front wheel of 77 year old Margaret Ward’s bicycle whilst turning into a garage forecourt.
Following arguments put forward by her legal team in mitigation, Ms Capal received a suspended custodial sentence, two year driving ban and ordered to pay legal costs £1,300.
Sentencing Capal, who has raised thousands for charity with sponsored bike rides, Judge Elgan Edwards said: “You are a decent woman with a fine record of charitable work but you misjudged the situation. It was an error of judgement.”
