The issue of speed cameras has long been a bone of contention between road safety campaigners and motorists.
This month the House of Commons has released a parliamentary note which sets out the legislative basis for speed cameras, the types of cameras used and information on their funding.
Importantly it also discusses issues surrounding their efficacy and reveals some interesting results. The research undertaken shows that speed cameras reduce collisions that give rise to personal injuries by 7% and fatal injury/serious collisions by 35%.
